]]> Each year, the Karuna Charitable Society (KCS), a charity formed by final year medical sciences students at Universal College of Medical Sciences in Nepal, host an event designed to bring free medical care and health check-ups to the most in need and vulnerable local community members in Bhairahawa. HCC Student Saraswati participated in the community event this year, working, teaching and having fun with the community in Bhairahawa.

Although officially a community health event, the KCS event also incorporates fun community events, like sports, talent shows, theater, and trivia games. Saraswati played basketball during the event to blow off some steam and participate in healthy competitive camaraderie. In addition to the blood drive and community health services, the event also sought to help victims in Nepal of the horrific flooding overwhelming Nepal, Bangladesh, and India.
