Since December my college has been closed and we are given a break to prepare for our board exam. On 24th December we had a lab(practical) where we were taught to withdraw blood, check pressure and many more. I am enjoying it and am learning it sincerely. I am trying to spend more time on my studies. My 1st year’s result will soon be out. I am very nervous as well as excited to see it. 

The month of December was one of the best as lots of memories are captured this month. It was the month of Christmas.  On the day of Christmas eve, we decorated the Christmas tree. The next day we celebrated by having a delicious meal, sharing the experience by each student, and singing songs together. We watched a movie and ate chips and soft drinks. It was very nice to be all gathered together. Not only that, we celebrated our little sister Medhavi’s birthday. It was her first birthday and she looked very happy. And the most exciting thing was that our friend Bipana’s birthday was on the same day. We had a fun evening by cutting cakes and enjoying ourselves. 

Talking about the role and responsibility, this time I am the house in charge. I am trying my best to bring some changes in the house. I will make sure everyone does their duties properly. I am also the store room in charge with 3 other friends. We all cooperate and work together.

The month of November is filled with enthusiasm. After a long vacation of about one month, schools, colleges, and offices started re-opening. I joined a medical institute for the preparation of entrance in BDS. I chose a morning shift hoping  to be active and give my full concentration in the class. It takes about  an hour to reach the institute from here. So I wake at five in the morning , get ready and reach the bus stop at five thirty. My class starts from six thirty to eleven. When I return home, I eat lunch , rest for a while and revise what was taught in the classroom. So this is how I have been engaging myself after the completion of my higher level education. Also the grade 12th results were out this week. I secured an A and was satisfied with the result.

As for now, I have been  putting a lot of effort into  preparing for the entrance as I am serious about studying dentistry in the bachelors. Well, it’s not as easy as I had thought but I am working on making it easy for me.I am blessed to have HCC by my side.

This month was very enjoyable. We had our main festival. I had lots of fun as all our brothers and sisters had gathered together. I love to gather and play around with my brothers and sisters. So it was one of the best times for me. I received a tika from Bruce’s uncle and aunt.  I played cards and talked with them.

I even did some paintings during the holidays. I am now with my relatives and enjoying myself a lot. I am going to get my citizenship. I am happy here as I am meeting some of my relatives after so long. thank you for all the things and making life beautiful. Thank you.

This month of September was fun. This month we mainly focused on clearing our house and surroundings. For that, we did a lot of fun activities like painting our 2 rooms, garden walls and our kitchen. We bought new flowers and planted them in the flower pots and garden. We all did it together and it was enjoyable as well as tiring. Our senior brother Ram was there to guide and help us.

Some of us went on a trip for hiking. We went there together with directors, my uncle and our senior Mun Maya sister. There we enjoyed walking, taking pictures. We stayed in the resort and there we did swimming, went to the beach and enjoyed singing and dancing. 

About my studies, we are attending colleges and it will probably be closed within 10 days for Dashain vacation. In college we attend classes as we are going to have our first exams of grade 12. I’m nervous as well as excited for that. After college I revise notes and take help from my senior brother and sister. Along with that I am fulfilling all my duties and responsibilities in Khushi Ghar.

Past two and present years have been more challenging for all of us. HCC has been helping and is still finding a way to help and support our students and their families. The pandemic has left thousands of children without access to school and school meals, which is sometimes the only food they eat all day.

We are grateful to be able to distribute and provide school supplies and food relief items so that the students can continue to learn without a hungry stomach at home. 

On 9th of August, 2021 HCC Nepal team Mun Maya, Laxmi and Dinesh made a day trip to Tinkanya Bageshworee School, Rorang-3, Benighat with school supplies for 106 students and  food  relief for 3 neediest families.

During the visit HCC team distributed:

1. School supplies (notebooks, pens, pencils, erasers, pencil sharpeners)
2. COVID relief supplies( sack of rice, salt, sugar, beans, pulses, cooking oil, soybeans etc)

None of what we do is possible without donors and supporters.Thank you from all of us and from the communities we serve. We will continue our educational supplies and food relief programs.

It has been a great experience all along from my childhood since the time Uncle Bruce and Aunt Susan took me into HCC. I am extremely thankful for providing me with proper schooling and supporting me in almost every way.

Being a senior member of the HCC family I urge all my friends, brothers and sisters to believe in themselves and continuously make an effort to do well in their studies, job and personal life. As we all are greatly affected by covid and all our plans might have changed but I waited hoping that things will get better. I think my wait has become worthwhile but I am still worried if the lockdown will happen again. I hope things will fall in place. For now I have not thought about anything until I reach Korea and start my course. I hope in the future I might return back to Nepal and contribute in the field of research.

Benighat, Dhading, Nepal

In Nepal, the second wave of COVID-19 has affected people of all ages severely. With a higher rate of infections and death among parents and caregivers, many children have been left orphaned.

Considering this growing concern, HCC has been working closely with the local authorities in Benighat, Rorang in Dhading district to plan for relief packages.

Benighat is a rural municipality that spans 29.17 square kilometers (11.26 sq miles), and most residents are employed in the farming and fishing industries, which have been hit hard by the pandemic.

On the 27th of June 2021, HCC’s dedicated staff members Mun Maya, Dinesh Raj and Dp Aryal, with support from the local government in Dhading, provided immediate relief packages that included a sacks of rice, salt, sugar, beans, lentils, cooking oil, soybeans, etc.

HCC is working diligently to supplement efforts made by the local government, to prepare caregivers in case of another outbreak.

Our local partner FUNKids Nepal aided in distribution of  packages to the families in the presence of the local government. HCC is committed to continuing support, based on the local government standard guidelines.

Today the members of HCC gathered in Khushi Ghar to celebrate this auspicious day. We organized the program and all participated with full enthusiasm. All the members gathered and celebrated with showcasing talents, talked about the situation, rights and the current situation of women in today’s context. The program started with the insight of how women’s day was celebrated, how women were treated before, how the women are empowered now. Many gave a short speech, recited poems and shared opinions about women in general. Every one had a badge in them with each of the feminine qualities so that everyone feels special. It was a beautiful day. Every woman should be treated with love, respect and care not only today but everyday. It’s always so nice to be in our close group of family circle and celebrate this women’s day.
